The Reverend Michael Edwards is Senior Pastor of Preaching and Teaching at Good News Lutheran Brethren Church. He was born in Lindsborg, KS and raised in McAlisterville, PA. After graduating from East Juniata High School, he attended and studied Bible at Messiah College (Grantham, PA). He worked for Waldenbooks/Borders Books and Music in store operations and human resources for 20 years. In 2010, he earned a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute (Chicago, IL). In February 2011, he was called to pastor Good News Lutheran Brethren Church. He has completed further theological studies at Lutheran Brethren Seminary (Fergus Falls, MN).

He married Christy (Meiser) Edwards in 1991 and they have two adult children, Gabriel (m. Leilynn-Junne) and Margaret.


Marc Sperlich is the Associate Pastor of Mission & Discipleship at Good News Lutheran Brethren Church. He was born in St. Georgen, Austria, but grew up in Mifflintown. Good News became his home church before it was built in 2000. He initially went to Eastern University in 2004 to study Mathematics, but quickly changed his major to Biblical Studies and Youth Ministry. After marrying his wife, he transferred to Messiah College to finish his degree in Biblical studies in 2008. Shortly after, he and his wife began leading the youth ministry at River Church in Mifflintown and served there for almost 9 years. During this time, Marc also went back to school to get his teaching certificate in Mathematics at Penn State Harrisburg. He served as a short and long term substitute teacher from 2011-2018, until he was called to be the associate pastor at Good News on November 18, 2018. He has been married to Elizabeth (Brotzman) Sperlich since 2007 and is the father of Elijah, Micah, and Josephine.
